At our Cadet Academy for 8–12-year-old budding Formula 1 drivers, we were delighted to welcome Deno Rowlands along with his father Chris and mum Kim, who proudly presented their new book Grassroots Motorsport to Richard Gittings, owner of JDR Karting.
Deno first experienced karting at JDR Karting when he was just 4 years old, and he has been returning ever since. His passion for motorsport is unstoppable, and in 2026 he will be competing in the British Karting Championship, marking another exciting step in his racing journey.
It’s always fantastic to see young drivers progress through the sport, especially when their journey begins with us. Watching Deno develop into a top-level competitor is something we are incredibly proud of.
We wish Deno and his family the very best for the 2026 season and hope to see many podium finishes along the way! 🏆🏁
Their book, Grassroots Motorsport, even mentions JDR Karting several times and serves as a truly inspirational guide for parents looking to introduce their children to the world of motorsport.

Originally conceived as part of a long-term brand and development strategy, Grassroots Motorsport: Deno’s Journey So Far… and a guide for future racers has evolved into an internationally distributed publication.
The book is now available through major global retailers including:
• Amazon
• Barnes & Noble
• Waterstones
• Foyles
• International online booksellers
• Global bibliographic databases (WorldCat)
It provides an inside perspective on competing in The Kart Championship at national level, detailing preparation, performance development, mindset, financial realities, and the operational structure behind a grassroots motorsport campaign.
Beyond documenting a season, the objective was clear:
To create a transparent and professional record of a developing racing career, while contributing positively to the visibility of grassroots motorsport.
As Deno continues progressing through national karting and participating in the JSCC YoungOnes driver development programme, the long-term aspiration is to transition into car racing and compete within the Junior Saloon Car Championship in the coming years.
This publication forms part of a wider, structured pathway aligned with that ambition.
